LINEAGE MASTER CLASS
Master Dogen's Written
Record (Shobogenzo)
plus selected texts from Matsuoka-roshi and Uchiyama-roshi
This
class will present material from the Soto Zen lineage,
featuring Master Dogen's Shobogenzo, beginning with Fukanzazengi, the
subject of the October Dharma Zazenkai. This was Master Dogen's first
written teaching, composed after his return from China at the request
of his Japanese students, who wanted a written practice guide for
reference and to follow, presumably in his absence.
The course curriculum will attempt to bring the teachings of Master
Dogen and the last generation of lineage Ancestors into focus, for
purpose of application to one's own daily life practice, and
particularly as they relate to zazen.
