Seiyu Mark Adams took Jukai in 1991 and was ordained in the Shunryu Suzuki lineage by Jakusho Kwong-roshi at Sonoma Mountain Zen Center in 2008, having practiced with Kwong-roshi for over 25 years. He moved to Atlanta in 2012 after meeting his future wife Beth (from the Atlanta metro area) in India. He has had a connection to the Atlanta Soto Zen Center since 2016, at which time he was invited to facilitate the Monday Night Book group. He has been the facilitator of the weekly group for the past eight years and is stepping down at the end of June.

Seiyu is a retired second-grade teacher, trained Grief Recovery Specialist, hospice volunteer, and trail maintenance volunteer at Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield Park. He is also a Vietnam veteran and helps veterans through the Soldier’s Angels organization.
